David  Murathe's sentiments in Vihiga county sent a wave of discomfort and suspicion across Deputy president William Ruto’s political base.

Murathe urged Ruto to retire from politics with his boss in 2022. Many people and political lovers termed Murathe’s declaration’ as a blow to Dp Ruto’s presidential ambitions but according to me, this is an advantage.

Ruto supported Uhuru’s quest for presidency in 2013 and 2017 respectively and he delivered the maximum number of votes Uhuru required from the vote-rich Rift Valley to win and retain the presidential seat.

The formation of Jubilee coalition which later formed Jubilee party had an agreement, an agreement which was made public and was repeated in political rallies Ruto attended together with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

It was agreed that Ruto will be the next presidential candidate for the party and that Uhuru Kenyatta will rally the Central region to vote for Ruto in 2022.

David Murathe,  being the Vice Chairman for Jubilee party and a close ally to President Uhuru should be heard. Ruto should know that Murathe might be speaking of what is cooking on the ‘other side ‘ of Jubilee party.

He should take this as a warning, so as not to be assured of the support he was promised earlier. He should go to the Central region to personally hunt for votes instead of relying on the promised votes.

Ruto is one of the smartest politicians in the country and he will use Murathe’s words to his advantage by going to personally seek for the hearts of the Mt Kenya region.
