It's almost the end of the calendar year - an opportunity to glance back at what the past year held, we take a long breath over the break, and then look at what could be for 2019. As 2018 comes to a close, many will remember it as a year riddled with many corruption cases that saddened Kenyans.

Here are few Kenyans high prominent individuals who shall count 2018 as the year of break through in what they do despite challenges in life.

1.Eliud Kipchoge

 The marathoner beat all odds to excel at world stage.This comes after the 34 year old marathoner set a new World at the Berlin Marathon.

In November 2018, Kipchoge was named the male winner of the 2018 AIMS ‘Best Marathon Runner’ Awards.He was also awarded by United Nations for his extraordinary performance and  his role on fight against HIV/AIDs.

2.Kanze Dena 

Kanze’s journey has not been easy, experiencing loss and pain along the way.This came after the former Citizen Tv swahili anchor lost her father Harry Kitao Stephens.

Kanze became the first female State House Spokesperson and Head of PSCU in the history of Kenya.Things seem to be looking high up for the popular news anchor who has graced TV screens for over a decade.

3.Michael Olunga

Michael Olunga is a Kenyan professional footballer who plays for Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol and the Kenya national team as a forward. 

 The striker helped Kenya qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in over one and a half decades. Tall, quick and deadly, Olunga has given Kenyans hope. 

4.Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana

This is the year that Kenyans were impressed by Makueni County Governor's performance.This is after the Wiper party Governor launched a milk and mango processing plant in his county.

His tremendous efforts won the heart's of Kenyans with a section of Kenyans urging him to go for the top seat come 2022.
