This comes shortly after Brian Bera’s father, David Bera, narrated the life of the 5th year Mechanical Engineering Student at Jomo Kenyatta University for Agriculture and Technology during an interview with Citizen TV

According to the father, his son begun withdrawing himself from the family in his third year of studies. On several occasions, he disappeared from home only to be found later on by good Samaritans.

A section of Kenyan cybercitizens took to Twitter to ask the government to pardon Brian Bera on the grounds that he was mentally unstable.

A good number of people believed that the details revealed by the father were enough to prove that the young man could not be accountable for his actions.

Some of the netizens also took the chance to raise awareness of mental illness among youths. They also expressed sympathy towards the father and consoled him.

The student is currently receiving treatment after sustaining gunshot injuries.
