Kisii County land registrar Steve Mokaya has lamented over the high number of land titles which cartels are possessing.
Mr. Mokaya said land grabbers colluded with the previous officers who served in the office of lands to forge documents to claim ownership of parcels of land illegally.
"A lot of land titles are being possessed by land grabbers who were helped by the previous land officials. The cartels used the forged documents to grab public and private land in Kisii," he noted.
He confirmed that land grabbers have been fighting him because after he was deployed to serve at the land office he brought about changes which scared cartels.
"I am being fought not because I am corrupt but because cartels are scared of losing the fake land documents. I am not going to succumb to cheap threats from cartels," he added.
Mokaya urged members of the public to be more patience so that he can end illegal land deals in Kisii.
"Illegal land transactions must come to an end in Kisii. I am requesting patience from members of the public so that I can streamline operations," said Mokaya.
