Police in Mwea East, Kirinyaga County have launched a manhunt for a man accused of stabbing his ex-wife's lover to death.
Simon Gitari allegedly stabbed and killed Simon Murithi over claims that he has been in a romantic affair with his ex-wife Josephine Wawira.
The incident reportedly happened in Kamucege Village, Mwea Irrigation Scheme on Tuesday evening.
The incident was confirmed by Mwea East Deputy County Commissioner Edwin Chabari who said that the police are pursuing the suspect who is still at large.
Wawira, 37, said that the suspect stormed into the house where she was with the deceased and demanded answers on why he (Muriithi) has been visiting and dating her occasionally.
Angered by the silence, she told the Citizen Digital, he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him several times and fled before neighbours arrived at the scene.
Gitari and Wawira have been separated for seven years and have two children together.
