Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on Thursday donated two new scania buses for the purpose of promoting evangelism across the country.
Seventh Day Adventist Church Nyamira Conference and South Kenya Conference which covers Kisii would have their Women Ministries use the two buses while traversing across the country.
Dr Matiang'i urged the church to promote peace and tranquility, adding that it's voice in critical issues affecting the country cannot go without appreciation.
"The church plays a critical role in promoting peace. This is usually done through evangelism. And as such, I thought it wise to donate the two buses for the mission," said the powerful minister.
He added: "At the time of need, the church has always stood with the country and people. It's fundamental that we ensure issues of national interest are addressed whenever they arise. Do not keep quiet."
The former University of Nairobi lecturer is a staunch Seventh Day Adventist and is an elder at his Borabu church in Nyamira. He often acts as choir chorister at times during Saturdays.
Present during the handing over at Nairobi were Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama, Jerusha Momanyi (Women Representative), Janet Ong'era (Woman Rep Kisii), Ken Ogeto (Solicitor General) and a host of Kisii Professionals.
The ceremony marked the beginning of crusades scheduled by the SDA Church across Gusii which the minister promised to be attending in future.
