Opposition leader Raila Odinga was sworn-in as the people's president on 30th Jan 2018 bringing possible treason charges to the fore.
Donned in a white and a black hat, Raila swore by the Bible and signed documents.
"I, Raila Amollo Odinga, do swear that I will protect the nation as the people's president.. that I will be faithful ... so help me God," he declared at Uhuru Park in Nairobi.
Ecstatic supporters who went to the venue from as early as 6 am cheered, danced and blew whistles during the proceedings.
The oath was administered by Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang and former Nairobi gubernatorial race contender Miguna Miguna.
However, lawyer Miguna Miguna has exposed the details of the swearing in.
In his book, Treason: The case Against Tyrants and Renegades, Miguna lays bare details behind the mock swearing-in of Opposition leader Raila Odinga as People's President in January 2018.
Miguna paints Raila as a coward who opposed his own swearing.
This he says, was despite massive support from close allies and his children Junior and Winnie.
He, however, says Raila's wife Ida and his brother Oburu opposed the ceremony.
Before Miguna administered the oath, he says cowardly Raila requested Tanzania President John Magufuli to provide a venue in his county but he declined.
