A fourth-year engineering student from Jomo Kenyatta University Of Agriculture and Technology was arrested on Friday over sim card fraud claims.
Rian Obaga Nyagaka, was arrested together with Maurice Musoti who works for Safaricom.
According to the department of criminal investigations, detectives also recovered till agent numbers, Mpesa books, mobile phones, laptop and internet router.
"The following items were recovered: One Laptop make apple, 2,160 Unused Safaricom, SIM cards, 44 Used Safaricom SIM cards, Five Till Agent numbers, three Mpesa Safaricom books, Internet Booster Router and two mobile phones; a blackberry and Samsung J7,” wrote the DCI.
Over the recent past, many people have made losses through SIM cards with subscribers being warned not share their personal details.
