Police and provincial administration team ransacked businesses across the county, with Masaba North being the latest region to be affected.

Over 2000 litres of illicit brew was seized by authorities on Tuesday at Esani region with same quantity also destroyed in the neighboring Enchoro.

County Commissioner Amos Mariba has been spearheading the activities across the region in the exercise that has been pretty successful.

But a group of brewers led by Pamela Nyerere on Tuesday accused Matiang'i of destroying their businesses, adding that he risks curses.

"Most of educated people from Nyamira including Chief Justice David Maraga depended on income from brewing to get an education. It's totally unfair to destroy our businesses.

"Infact, Matiang'i could also be another beneficiary. We have no history of brewing dangerous liquor that kills. Dr Matiang'i risks curses. Let him leave us alone," she said.

But a defiant Mariba told reporters that he will ensure all dens across the county are closed down, adding that those behind the business will be charged in court.

"We have regulations in place which should be adhered to. If you can't simply follow the rules, you quit the game. That is what should be done," he said.

Also being targeted are gambling businesses with a Chinese national who is believed to be operating them being put on the police radar in Nyamira.
