With four years remaining to the 2022 election, politicians are slowly hitting the road running in a bid to secure their political careers.
However, for former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim, his approach may be a little bit different.
After withdrawing his appeal against High Court ruling that validated Garissa Township MP Aden Duale's win, the former lawmaker has left his rivals guessing his next political move.
Is it a strategy to political redemption?
Maalim who has been at the centre of Garissa politics since 1992 knows how to act during difficult political times and maybe his silence could be taken to mean that he is strategising on how to make a comeback in the next election having done it in the past.
Having lost his Lagdera seat in 1997, it was until 2007 that he made a political comeback on Raila Odinga-led ODM party before riding his way to become a Deputy Speaker in the National Assembly.
Whatever happens, Maalim who was once Raila's blue-eyed boy could be having his own political calculations.
And anybody who has already started writing his political obituary should be prepared for a rude shock because Farah Maalim remains Farah Maalim.
