Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has weighed in on the turmoil in the ruling Jubilee Party.
Speaking during an interview on K24 TV on Sunday, Mudavadi pinned down the wrangles in the party to succession politics.
He noted the anxieties were being fed by the 2022 presidential politics.
"The wrangles in Jubilee, let's not cheat ourselves, this is based upon succession politics. And no matter how we try to clothe it or to cover it up the reality is there is anxiety about 2022 and this cannot be suppressed so it is a question of how it will be managed going forward," Mudavadi said.
The former Vice President further said that more factions would emerge in the party as 2022 closes in.
Jubilee Party led by President Uhuru Kenyatta has been plagued by factionalism with groups supporting and opposed to the prospect of a DP Ruto presidency crossing swords.
The factions that have come out publicly are the so-called Tangatanga made up of DP Ruto's allies and Kieleweke team that has been publicly railing against the DP.
About a week ago, President Uhuru tore into Ruto's allies from Central Kenya moving around the country drumming up support for his deputy's presidential ambitions.
