Instead, Muthama says he will use electronic media to disseminate information to his supporters whenever he deems it fit.

“These young men you are seeing here will file their stories today and the earliest they will be published is next week Friday if they are lucky,” Muthama said while addressing mourners in Tala, Machakos County.

He said it was unrealistic of media houses to expect sales and advertising revenue from the region yet residents do not read any news from the region.

“There has been a consistent scheme by these companies to marginalize Ukambani as if nothing good can come from here. Tomorrow you will see ‘very weak stories’ from different parts of the country as ours here go down the drain. This is completely unacceptable,” Muthama declared amid cheers from audience.https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001302444/ex-senator-bars-scribes-from-covering-his-functions

The former senator quit politics in 2017 when Wiper party gave Wavinya Ndeti direct ticket to contest Machakos gubernatorial elections.

Recently, he has been pushing for candidature of Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of 2022 polls, and has often insisted that Ukambani region will not play second fiddle to anybody.

Mr Muthama was instrumental in NASA campaigns, playing a key role both in Nairobi and across the country.
