A-35-year old man has committed suicide at a church in Mwala, Machakos County.
The Seventh Day Adventist Church's pastor reportedly hang himself inside the church in Kyethivo on Tuesday night.
The deceased's body was found dangling from the church's roof on Wednesday morning.
The body was discovered by local residents trading near the church.
Led by their chairman Simon Ndolo, the traders broke into the church where the body was discovered.
They later notified the local police who arrived to pick the body.
Masii OCS Geoffrey Muchai confirmed the incident.
Muchai said the body had been removed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital's mortuary.
He said the deceased did not leave any suicidal note.
The OCS said only the man's identification card and phone were recovered from the scene of the incident.
"The reason behind him taking his life is still a mystery since he didn't leave a suicide note, but the police will conduct investigations and get to the root of the matter," Muchai said.
The deceased is said to hail from Tulimani in Mbooni, Machakos County.
He was reportedly seen last on Sunday evening.
SDA opened its branch at the market barely three months ago.
