The region has been facing political realignment challenges, with two factions emerging within the Jubilee administration.

One group supports the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, while the other one is advocating for the candidature of Deputy President William Ruto.

Despite the standoff, Waiguru told the Star, the entire team will sail in one direction during voting in 2022.

"Eventually, we will come together. Mt Kenya is always like that. We are very vibrant when it comes to politics... we talk a lot, we have views, we air them but when push comes to shove at the end of it all, we will speak in one voice come 2022," she said.

"And we will play our part as leaders to ensure that we do not divide our people. I will play my part to ensure that we don't," added the first term governor.

Waiguru further said the president will handle economic challenges the region is facing among them coffee farming, adding that the situation will be normalised.

The unity, she argued, will come automatically despite the ongoing fireworks between the two rival groups.
