The government has not changed it's position on the return of lawyer Miguna Miguna to Kenya, Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna has said.
Oguna noted that President Uhuru Kenyatta had cleared Miguna to return to Kenya, adding that nothing has changed, and that is still the government's position.
He was reacting to a statement from Miguna, indicating that he had been barred from boarding a plane in Germany, over a red alert that had been issued against him by Kenyan authorities.
“The President’s clearance supersedes any other order,” he said as quoted by the East African.
He said in case there is a red alert, the issue can be sorted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The government position has not changed, the Immigration Department said it is ready to facilitate his entry at JKIA, but if there are issues he is facing outside our boundaries, that is something that will be dealt with by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," Oguna told Capital News.
Earlier today, Miguna claimed the government had sent a red alert to Lufthansa airlines, effectively blocking him from proceeding to Nairobi.
"In fact, the Kenya Government has demanded that Lufthansa must refund my fare. They have demanded that Lufthansa should not fly me into any other African country, either," Miguna said.
"Lufthansa flight manager is saying that the Government of Kenya must send an official communication to Lufthansa at Frankfurt office before I can be allowed to fly to Kenya or any other African country. Lufthansa says that the red alert was issued by the Office of the President in Nairobi, Kenya," he added.
