Nakuru boasts of several police stations, resulting in tight security and, therefore, safety.

However, this doesn't rule out the progress of crime in the county, just like in every other place in the country, translating to always packed cell rooms.

Here are some of the things you should expect to see each time you visit Nakuru police stations.

1. Car, motorbike and bicycle wrecks

These are usually evidence confiscated in scenes of accidents and crime, motorbikes forming the majority, especially at this time when their use is on the increase.

These are usually heaped on the one corner waiting to be claimed or collected by owners or to be presented in court as evidence.

2. A stuffy smell

All Nakuru police stations I have been to, on most occasions on job purposes or to visit arrested friends and relatives, tend to have some sort of an unsuitable smell.

This most likely comes from the cells where the suspects are locked up all day awaiting presentation in court for trial.

3. Worried people

These are usually either arriving suspects who are well aware of what awaits them in the cells and later in the court or those who have come to report a crime.

Hardly will you find people smiling in a police station.

Another group is that of worried relatives and friends who are in the stations to either see or bail out the arrested.
