Mombasa County government in partnership with the Mombasa sightseeing Limited company on Tuesday unveiled a luxurious double decker bus to aid sightseeing within the county.
The bus which is the first of its kind in the port city painted with colours of the Kenyan flag was unveiled at the historical Elephant Tusks, coming at a time when Mombasa is preparing to host the global Skal Congress which is a meeting for tourism executives from all over the world at Pride Inn Paradise Beach Resort, Convention Centre and Spa next month.
The owners of the bus, Mombasa Sightseeing Limited's Chief Executive Officer, Ms Everlyne Lele said they were happy with the partnership with both the County Government of Mombasa and tourism sector in Mombasa.
"We are highly indebted to the support and advice we have received from all stakeholders and pledge to do our best to ensure that the new bus service lives upto its billing as luxury bus provider of choice,'' Lele said.
She added that they plan to introduce similar buses in Nairobi by January 2019.
Also present at the function was Tourism Finance Corporation (TFC) Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jonah Orumoi who said it was a move in the right direction for new tourism experience in Mombasa.
