In an interview on Radio Jambo's 'Mazungumzo Waziwazi' on Tuesday evening, the outspoken leader maintained that he would battle for the seat in the much-anticipated race.

He vowed to among others, eradicate the unemployment menace, should his bid sail through, especially among the majority youthful Kenyans.

"Kama Rais nitaitisha takwimu za vijana wote na kazi walizosomea ili tuwasaidie kupata kazi. Mambo yatakuwa mazuri chini ya uongozi wangu.

(I will ensure jobs for the youth, especially the ones with relevant training, and will better the national situation once in office)," he noted.

The controversial parliamentarian, however, declined to name his preferred successor for his current seat, saying that the decision is better left to the electorate.

Kuria noted that there exists a sufficient number of qualified hopefuls who can take over, therefore no need for his endorsement.

"Kutajitokeza watu wengine kuwania kiti changu cha ubunge. Waje tu na sera zao (others will show interest for the seat with time, let them convince the electorate)," he added.

His candidature, however, is likely to result in confusion within the ruling Jubilee party, considering that Deputy President William Ruto has as well declared his bid for the same slot.
