The 45-year-old woman has bore four girls with her husband David Musembi. The two have been married for the past 15 years and have been living happily.

Winfred who was immediately replaced by her husband after kicking her out from their matrimonial home recalls how they have been living together as a family in peace.

"We formally married through a church wedding and our marriage was full of life until I gave birth to a fourth daughter. My husband was giving me a lot of pressure to bear him a son,” said Winfred as quoted by Citizen.

Things turned ugly when both Winfred and one of her four daughters fell ill. Her illness prompted her to spend most of her time at Machakos Level 5 Hospital which angered her husband even more.

Her husband brought in another woman in their home but she could do nothing. Having nowhere to go, her mother-in law accommodated her together with the four children.

Life became hard for them since she got her left leg amputated hence could do less to support her family as a single mother.

“I lived with my mother in law for some time, and most of the time we were forced to beg for food, as well as sleep in the cold as we could not access the house,” she said.

“I was later forcefully evicted from our Katumani home in Machakos by my husband forcing me to leave my three daughters under the care of their step mother,” she added in tears.

She moved out and started living with her mother in Vota.

Winfred's children were taken in by their step-mother but she was not allowed to visit them.

She is now calling on the human rights lobby groups to help her see her children again.
