Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has declared his readiness to respond to claims of being the dividing factor within the party, as has been claimed by some members.

Tuji has been under criticism from allies of Deputy President William Ruto, after a clip of him badmouthing the DP in a phone conversation with former Limuru MP George Nyanja emerged.

He on Sunday said that he is out of the country but will avail himself for an interview upon return, expressing fears of receiving more bashing over the issue.

However, he pleaded innocent, claiming that the clip was forged to implicate him, promising to give the truth once he returns to the country.

“I am out of the country. I will make myself available for a live TV interview as soon as possible to reduce the risk of being misquoted to add to the drama or to be recorded, then subjected to ‘deep-fake editing’ to convey a different meaning," he said.

"I would welcome the opportunity to speak substance and truth and not just give a sound bite in response to party members who have talked in rallies,” he added as quoted by the Standard.

This is not the first time he is being accused of undermining Ruto and his 2022 presidential ambitions. He found himself in a similar position earlier in the year.

Speaking in Siaya, he indirectly told Ruto off against early politicking and spreading his 2022 agenda, reminding him that no one is even guaranteed that they will see next week.

Consequently, Ruto's allies launched a push to have him resign, a push that died somewhere along the way, but is now back.
