Speaking on Sunday, Kang'ata said that the apparently the widening rift between the President and Ruto's allies might not have a major impact on the DP's 2022 presidential bid.

This comes at a time when the pro-Ruto group has been bashing Uhuru for allegedly using the war on corruption to scuttle the Deputy President's bid.

They have claimed that the plan is well calculated in having to implicate Ruto and his allies in each scandal and painting him corrupt.

But speaking on Radio Citizen's Debe La Citizen Sunday evening, Kang'ata said that Ruto still commands a lot of support and influence in Central.

"Ruto still has a massive following and enjoys great influence in Central Kenya and what is happening currently between his allies and the president will not have any effect on his grip of the region," he said.

He added that it will be hard to take away the support base he has made in the region even if the plan were to trim him as has been alleged by the team led by Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi.

"It will be very hard to finish his influence in the area. Though it's true that his allies need to be very careful about what they say to avoid future problems," he added.

Ruto's team has also cited political witch hunt in the latest Arror and Kimwarer dam scandal which has once again landed at the DP's doorstep.
