A political analyst in Eldoret town has asked Deputy President William Ruto to drop Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa from a list of his allies in Western Kenya.
The analyst Donald Korir, says Wamalwa has no political impact to the Western region.
Korir, a legal practitioner in Eldoret town argues that the former Saboti Member of Parliament has never had an influence in the politics of the Luhya nation and enjoys appointment to the Cabinet for no tangible reason.
“Wamalwa being the CS was just a way of recognizing his brother the late Kijana Wamalwa that he was in government all along in his life, him being CS has never contributed to the formation of Jubilee government than Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka and other leaders,” Korir said on Tuesday adding that Wamalwa is searching for a way of being influential in the Western region which might be a pipe dream when the likes of former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Lusaka are still actively involved in politics.
The sentiments come just days after the CS was quoted saying DP Ruto' 2022 presidential bid was not guaranteed.
While addressing a recent Western Kenya leader’s forum, Wamalwa seemingly cast doubts on Ruto’s chances of succeeding President Kenyatta in 2022 arguing that the only Vice President to succeed his boss was the retired president Daniel Moi, which was only when the then president, the late Jomo Kenyatta died.
“I don’t know if you know who that guy is? Daniel Toroitich arap Moi. But it was due to death, you know that. Maybe if there was an election, it might not have worked for Moi to succeed Kenyatta,” he said.
Wamalwa is believed to have been appointed a CS in Cabinet slots reserved for Ruto and his sentiments are likely to put him on the coalition path with the DP's allies.
