Deputy President William Ruto is no stranger to attracting crowds at political rallies but at least not in, Luo Nyanza, Raila Odinga's home turf.On Thursday, while in the company of President Kenyatta and Raila, Ruto had a chance to address stopovers with impressive crowds in Kisumu County. He was warmly received by Kisumu residents courtesy of the March 9 handshake. It is the happenings in the President's tour to Kisumu that former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale finds as a win for the Deputy President in readiness for the presidential contest in 2022. According to Khalwale, DP Ruto was the biggest winner in the politics that played out during the Kisumu tour where he affirmed his support for the handshake between the President and the ODM party leader. "The tour is a solid confirmation that there is no animosity between Raila and Ruto. This was timely and it killed an earlier scheme by a number of politicians who wanted to give the impression that Ruto was not welcomed in Nyanza," observed Khalwale when contacted. In Uhuru's Luo  Nyanza visit last week, noted Khalwale, Raila Odinga "rolled out the carpet for Ruto," and as such, the DP will be warmly received by the region in his subsequent attempts to penetrate Luo Nyanza."With this development, it means Raila has opened doors for Ruto to enter the region. He will now continue visiting the area and continue building political capital," stated Khalwale.
