A nominated MCA in Kisii County found herself in trouble with locals after she donated a battery to a church.
On Sunday Betty Obiri donated a new battery to St Gabriel Catholic Church in Omwari, Riana ward in Kisii County.
The locals said the MCA should be ashamed for donating a battery instead of helping the church get an electricity connection.
"The so-called MCA should be ashamed of herself donating only a battery to the church. We want the church connected to electricity and not battery donations. Mrs. Obiri is bringing shame to herself yet she is earning a salary," said Reuben Motoki.
Moses Ondieki accused the MCA for giving cheap donations to the people in the area.
"She can't claim to be a leader yet she is giving cheap donations to us. We don't want her battery, all we want is the electricity connection," he said.
Martha Oroo said the MCA has been giving false promises to locals in the entire Riana ward.
"Mrs Obiri is a liar who should be ignored. The cheap donations can't help us. Let her help the church get connected with power and not giving cheap batteries which locals can afford," she stated.
