Kenya and the world, in general, have a tendency of having dynasties controlling politics and governance.
Some political heirs are 'politically lazy' while some work hard and in my opinion, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi is a lazy one.
The senator is the son of Kenya's longest-serving president so far and has used the name Moi to gain mileage.
However, the nature of modern Kenyan politics does not allow the Senator to be the President of the Republic of Kenya.
First, to be a president in Kenya, you need to have a tribal back-up, it's unfortunate but it's the reality on the ground.
Senator Moi's influence in the Rift Valley region is so minimal, it cannot be compared with the influence of Deputy President William Ruto.
In addition, one needs to have stood for something in his or her leadership role.
Senator Moi has nothing, albeit one known by the public, that has been done by him either for Kenya or his area of representation.
The Baringo Senator has never been shy to say that he will vie for Presidency, however, his tactics so far have been closed-door meetings with other leaders.
Yesterday on Tuesday 26th February 2019 he held more than 4-hour meeting with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Of course, the public was told they were discussing the handshake, corruption and current affairs.
The KANU chairman has also made it possible for several high profile leaders to meet his father, retired President Daniel Moi and making it hard for his 'enemies' to meet his father.
In Kenya, in as much as the 'meetings' form the basis of political alliances, the presidency is formed by games of numbers and Mr Gideon Moi has no numbers.
Even his 'meetings ' are so one dimensional and repetitive that politically may have no value.
In fact, such meetings can only be used by other leaders when they want you to support them.
No one will come to a meeting with a 'lazy politician' and ends up supporting them.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi knows what happened to him when Ruto and Uhuru visited him prior to 2013 elections.
Some of Kenya's political 'heirs' who have succeeded have had to work for it.
An endorsement may have formed their introduction but hard work is what propelled them to top seats. Look at Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta.
In my opinion, whatever tactics Senator Moi is using, it is too lazy for him to get Kenya's presidency.
