The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has wished the national football team Harambee Stars good luck ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations set to kick off on Friday, in Cairo, Egypt.
In a tweet on Thursday, the party noted it be backing the national team in the continental tournament.
"Our Party Leader Raila Odinga and the entire ODM family wishes our National Soccer team Harambee Stars success as they prepare to start their campaign in the finals of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt," posted ODM.
Harambee Stars landed in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday night.
The team touched down in Egypt after a 19-day residential camp in France, where they prepared for the competition.
Harambee Stars played two friendly matches against Madagascar and DRC in preparation for the continental tournament.
The team hammered Madagascar 1-0, and drew with DRC 1-1.
Harambee Stars will face Algeria on Sunday in their first match, after which they will later face Senegal and Tanzania.
Players to watch during the competition include; Kashiwa Reysol’s Michael Olunga, Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama, who is also the captain of the team, among other notable names.
