Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has accused former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale over insincerity over President Uhuru Kenyatta's recent trip to Kisumu.
Last Friday, Uhuru shared podium with ODM leader Raila Odinga in Seme during the burial of Dorcas Owino, the mother to Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong'o.
In his earlier tweet, Khalwale mocked Luo Nyanza leaders of allegedly piling pressure on Uhuru to endorse Raila for presidency instead of lobbying for development projects.
Khalwale was making reference to Uhuru's Friday trip to Eldoret that saw Kalenjin MPs avoiding DP William Ruto's succession bid and instead focused on lobbying for projects.
"President Uhuru was viciously opposed by @RailaOdinga & graciously supported by @WilliamsRuto in 2013 & 2017. Last week he went to Nyanza (where he was asked to endorse Raila for president) & today to Eldoret (where he was asked for development projects)," Khalwale said.
But in a scathing response, Otiende insisted that Luo Nyanza leaders did not ask Uhuru to back Raila, arguing that speakers only wanted Uhuru to ensure he does not hand over to a thief.
"Daktari, your facts are warped.First, No one asked for Rt Hon Raila to be endorsed! Hons Orengo & Mbadi asked HE Uhuru not to leave the Country to thieves & the Corrupt. 2nd, All the engagements we’ve had with HE are on Development; Sugar, Cotton, Ksm Port etc. Now, Your Agenda?" he noted.
While a section of MPs from Nyanza have been pushing to have Raila contest in 2022, the ODM leader has remained mum over his fifth possible stab at presidency.
