A section of County Assembly Speakers from the Rift Valley region now want President Uhuru Kenyatta to honour a promise he made to his deputy William Ruto in 2013.
It is believed that Uhuru pledged to support Ruto's presidential ambitions in 2022 after he serves two terms in office.
Addressing the press in Eldoret town on Saturday, Uasin Gishu's David Kiplagat who spoke on behalf of the Speakers said President Kenyatta should stick to his words and support the DP.
"Without blinking an eye, all of us were in Jubilee Party in 2013 and 2017 and we know what the President promised the Deputy President. The clips are there and if that has changed well and good but we know that the living God who documented it will not let it go just like that," said Kiplagat.
“Let us continue praying and hope that whenever you promise somebody anything it is integrity to fulfil it but if you think maybe we might have been used just as poles to cross a river and then after that, you destroy the river, fine. We believe our God is still living until 2022," he added.
The Speaker's however, reiterated their support to the ambition and vision of Ruto to be the country's next president.
The County Assemblies that were represented during the press briefing include Baringo, Turkana, West Pokot, Transzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeiyo Marakwet, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru and Samburu.
