Police in Homa Bay are investigating an incident where a married couple was found dead in their rented home in Shauri Yako Estate, Homa Bay Town.
The two, 43-year-old Ben Mancha and his wife Phoebe Kamire (38) were reportedly discovered dead by a neighbour on Saturday morning.
Confirming the incident, area Assistant Chief Jackton Olielo suspected suicide, saying that the couple was found with foam on their mouths, a demonstration that they might have poisoned themselves.
The neighbour who found them was reportedly returning their young daughter from a sleepover, before discovering them dead on separate beds.
Their landlord Joseph Onyiego added that the couple has also been experiencing domestic rows and fights lately, resulting from their drinking habits.
A day before the deaths, he said, they had disagreed after the wife spent all the Ksh200 the husband had given her to buy food for the family in a drinking den.
She later came back home empty-handed and drunk, he told the Citizen Digital.
The bodies of the two are being preserved at the Homa Bay county mortuary pending police probe.
