The most central and overrated political virtue is loyalty. Unfortunately, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa lacks this quality. If she does not change her approach, she will lose coastal political queenship to Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko. She has earned the crown as the ‘best’ female coastal politician.

Jumwa is the best version of a Kenyan politician. She knows how to speak and when to poke the audience’s soft spots.

However, she fails to understand when to decamp to a different political ship. Her decisions to go against the party that took her to Parliament on two occasions proves her wanting levels of loyalty.

On two occasions, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) threatened to take disciplinary action against her. Fortunately, she has evaded the axe twice.

As she chants her poetic speeches that always make the crowd happy, she should watch the loyal Mboko.

Mboko has remained loyal to ODM. She always supports what her party leader, Raila Odinga, says and stands for.

Moreover, she is always with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho during sensitive campaigns and on development trips. She has an opportunity to emerge as the coastal political queen.

The only thing she lacks, compared to Jumwa, is oratory prowess.
