Mr George Mosiori, the Minority Whip in Nyamira Assembly, had over 10 minutes direct engagement with Uhuru when he visited Nyamira in June 2017.

"As Ruto (William) addressed the crowd, I sat next to the president. He first gave me his Jubilee cap and asked me to take a seat near him.

"He assured me that I will be in the assembly and asked me to use the opportunity to spearhead the youth agenda. The president also asked me to rally the youth behind him. He gave me a target of ensuring Jubilee carried the day in Nyamira," racalled Mosiori.

In the nullified August 8, 2017 elections, Uhuru was declared the winner in Nyamira County having scooped 52 per cent of the votes cast in the region that had traditionally voted for Raila Odinga.

On representation, the Jubilee party won four MCA seats losing narrowly to ODM which had a total of six of the twenty available seats. It also won two parliamentary seats on top of Women Representative seat.

Mr Mosiori says that the experience at the assembly has been overwhelming, adding that for devolution to be strengthened, more legislations have to be created.

"We must come with more stringent measures to strengthen oversight. That is the only way to go. Otherwise am happy that the president gave me the opportunity to serve."
