Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 Presidential bid received a major boost on Friday after a section of Nyanza MPs vowed to support his State House journey.
Speaking during the DP's tour of two Kuria constituencies in Migori constituencies, the MPs from the region declared that they will throw their weight behind Ruto in his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
"Kuria will support the DP as president in 2022 as he has stood with the community. His development record in this region is known. Let the person of riddles keep off this place as this region is fully behind the DP," said Kuria East MP Marwa Kitayama as quoted by Nation.
On his part, Kuria West MP Mathias Robi said that the region is no longer an ODM stronghold as it used to be a few years ago.
"ODM has no place in Kuria region. The region is fully in Jubilee and will support the DP for Presidency in 2022," said the lawmaker.
The declarations by the legislators will no doubt give the DP the precious head-start ahead of the next general election where he is the frontrunner in State House journey.
