Irene Mayaka, the lady who ran powerful campaigns under the umbrella 'Daughters of Raila' for ODM leader Raila Odinga, is yet to be reinstated at the Nyamira County Assembly.
In February this year, Appeals Court in Kisumu granted her victory after it ruled that a case that has been appealed in High Court, could not be brought before the superior court.
And the ruling was supposed to have her reinstated as nominated MCA for ODM party but until now, Speaker Moffat Teya of Nyamira County is yet to issue any communication according to her.
"I was supposed to be reinstated immediately after the court order. The speaker is yet to declare the slot vacant and I am really worried. IEBC says it's the prerogative of the speaker to do so," she said in an interview.
So frustrating has been her journey that at one point, she was sworn in by Speaker Moffat Teya as MCA before a court in Kisii ordered her out in favour of one Damaris Mouni.
Ms Mayaka won the case instigated by Mouni, who had claimed that she was the bona fide nominee by ODM party. But in Nairobi, the Orange party accused her or fraudulently sneaking her name at the expense of Mayaka.
A source within the county assembly says the speaker has already stopped Mouni's benefits, an indication that he could declare the seat vacant any time before Wednesday next week.
"The speaker has nothing to lose. He respects the law and believe me, he has stopped Mouni's benefits. This means that Irene should report any time and get sworn in.
In another interview on Friday, Irene said that through ODM lawyer Tony Moturi, Speaker Moffat Teya had asked her to avail herself for swearing in on Tuesday. It will be the second time she's making it to the assembly.
