Uhuru Park will remain out of bounds tomorrow, Tuesday, even as NASA Coalition insists they will host their swearing-in ceremony at the grounds.

Nairobi Police boss has said that the Park will be out of bounds for any gathering.

“There is no formal communication to us, but we are hearing that so and so will have an event at Uhuru Park. I have a responsibility to protect life and property; it is a duty that has been bestowed on me,”

“Whoever thinks that he will come to Uhuru Park to cause trouble, tell him not to attempt? Because when we hear that two or three groups will meet at the same venue, it will be chaotic,” he added.

He said they are ready to ensure they protect Kenyans, and that there is peace as Kenyans go about their business.

Nasa, on the other hand, has insisted that they will not be cowed by the government, after a directive by the Nairobi County government to ensure there is no activity going on.

“It is a fight we are willing to take as far as it can go to ensure our land s truly democratic. We have no intention whatsoever to change the avenue of this ceremony,"

The notice indicated that the grounds were under renovation, and as such were not open to any public use. However, there seems to be no renovation taking place at the grounds, further raising eyebrows over the matter.
