Kisii politician cum businessman Don Bosco has revealed what the former presidential aspirant Simeon Nyachae did that left many people's hearts in stitches.
According to Bosco, the late Christopher Matoke was his aide and staunch campaigner, who was involved in a road accident which injured his spinal cord. He was referred to KNH, under one condition of being airlifted given the condition of the spinal cord could not bear a road drive.
"The Doctors referred him to KNH under one condition that he be airlifted to Nairobi, given that his condition with an injured spine could not stand a road drive,” Bosco said.
The family of the late Matoke, pleaded with Nyachae who owned a fleet of aircraft then, to help airlift Matoke to KNH for treatment. As per the report was given by Don Bosco, the 'heartless' former presidential aspirant blatantly rejected to offer the help.
The family of the late Matoke, paid an ambulance to take him to KNH for treatment but after some months of treatment, Matoke passed on. After the death, the ‘heartless’ Nyachae, offered to airlift the body of late Matoke from Nairobi to Kisii, an offer the family rejected.
“Mr. Nyachae offered to offset the expenses and airlift the body to GUSII, irony at play here! Ain't it? The family flatly rejected the offer of airlifting the body in that when that was a necessity that help never came forth,” he added.
During the burial day, many people attended the service with other leaders from all corners of the country. But Nyachae, a friend to the late did not attend the service.
"Nyachae did not attend, the mourners were rife to the happenings about the airlift saga,” he also said.
Nyachae vied for the presidency in 2002 but lost to Mwai Kibaki.
