Former Kitui Deputy Governor Peninah Malonza has taken a low political life after her boss lost in 2017 General Elections.
Malonza was Deputy to former Kitui Governor Julius Malombe.
The duo lost to Governor Charity Ngilu in the hotly contested August 8, 2017 polls.
Malonza has remained silent even as the 2022 succession debate takes center stage.
The former deputy governor's silence is now worrying her supporters.
As the 2022 succession debate continues to heat up, there are claims that Malonza could be eyeing the Kitui Woman Representative's seat.
The position is currently held by Irene Kasalu of Wiper Democratic Movement Party.
Malonza, a close political friend of Governor Charity Ngilu is said to be seeking her support for the seat on a NARC ticket in the next elections.
Political analyst Peter Ngure says Malonza is among the crop of women leaders who still have the chance of a political comeback in 2022.
"Malonza is experienced and I think she stands a higher chance of making a come-back in 2022," Ngure said.
There are speculations that Malonza could again partner with Malombe if the latter contests the Kitui gubernatorial seat in 2022 general election.
Malombe is likely to battle for the seat in the much anticipated 2022 polls.
Others said to be eyeing the Kitui gubernatorial seat in 2022 include Kenya's Ambassador to Uganda Kiema Kilonzo and Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi.
