Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Thursday formally received three Cuban Doctors, following national government's move to deploy the specialised doctors to each of the 47 counties.
"The doctors will complement efforts by our medical team in our County. We have confidence that will they will bring their experience to ensure better access by our people to quality medical care," Joho said as he welcomed the doctors, flanked by his Deputy Dr William Kingi.
Dr. Margenis Gener Artilez (Ophthalmology) and Dr. Lilian Zuniga Fernandez (Gastroenterologist) will be based at the Coast Provincial General Hospital while Dr. Damisela Zayaz Valdes (family medicine) will be based at Mlaleo Health Centre.
Joho said Dr. Valdes but will also provide services in all Sub-County hospitals in Mombasa.
"I wish them success as they serve in our County," he said.
Furnished apartments, security, transport and a monthly salary are some of the privileges the doctors will enjoy while serving the country for two years according to the Public Service Commission (PSC), as was stated by Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki.
