It is believed that some foods are bad when taken by lactating mothers. 

They usually interfere with the hormones responsible for milk production in the breasts.

Among the foodstuffs you should avoid while breastfeeding include; 

1.Alcohol

We are all aware of the risks associated with alcohol consumption. 

They cause long-term effects which may result in death. 

On the other hand, lactating mothers are also advised to shun alcohol. 

They are enriched with hazardous chemicals that interfere with the milk production.

2.Caffeine

As much as you are embracing the benefits of coffee, you should also be aware that caffeine can take a toll on your child's health. 

Adults have an elaborate metabolism and therefore tend to metabolise any food substance including coffee in a short period.

 In the case of infants, their metabolism system is weak hence taking longer to breakdown any food substance. 

Usually, caffeine ingested together with the milk takes longer to be metabolised by infants thus resulting in serious complications such as headaches.

3.Citrus fruits

These particular fruits have negative impacts on lactating mothers and they are believed to cause low milk supply. 

Having too much citrus fruits increases your blood level to a point that the acid found in citrus fruits gets into your breasts which is risky. 

4.Garlic

This spice enhances taste to your food but a study reveals that it reduces milk production as well. 

Therefore, it would be a good idea if you avoided it at all costs.
