Mr Maangi said DP Ruto should join other leaders in calling for a referendum.

"DP Ruto is a national leader and therefore, if at all he cares for this country he should consider joining other leaders to push for the referendum aimed at reducing the burden for Kenyans," he said.

He said should DP Ruto continue having a hard stand on the referendum calls, his presidential bid will be crippled.

The vocal ODM allied politician maintained that a referendum should be conducted purposely to ensure the country doesn't witness chaos after every election.

"Kenyans should not fight one another after every election because their preferred candidate has not won. The referendum is inevitable since it is aimed at curbing election chaos," he stated.

Maangi has been at the front line welcoming DP Ruto in several visits Ruto has made to Gusii region. He was speaking at Kisii county headquarters on Tuesday.
