A student has been charged with committing abortion in Kitui County.
The form four girl was arraigned at Kitui Law Courts on Friday.
She appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Johnson Munguti.
The suspect pleaded guilty of the charges leveled against her.
According to the prosecution, the girl committed the crime in September 2018 at Kwa Mull area in Kitui County.
She, however, requested the court to give her time to seat for her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) before deciding on her fate.
Munguti directed that the girl be returned to court on October 26.
On this day, the court will look at the report written by the officer in charge of this case.
In the same county, at Mutomo Law Courts, a middle-aged man was sentenced to one-year imprisonment or a fine of Sh10,000 for reckless driving that caused a girl's death.
The bodaboda operator identified as Mbanga Mbuvi is said to have committed the crime on September 4th at around 3 pm.
He knocked the girl along Kasala-Ndulani road in Mutomo sub-county.
The girl sustained serious head injuries but later succumbed to the injuries while receiving treatment in hospital.
The accused appeared before judge Zacharia Joseph Nyakundi.
He was given 14 days to appeal the ruling.
