Machakos governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has pleaded to all industry firms operating in Machakos County to conserve the counties environment. He has asked them to respect people’s life and stop polluting the environment.
On his official Facebook account, the Machakos county boss has asked the industry firms to live alive and act responsibly to the environment.
He said that caring for the environment gives the future generation hope to have a place to call it home.
He also warned industries that don’t care about the human environment to stop their habits as he would not be tolerated in Machakos County
“We must all live and act responsibly. Caring for the environment gives our future generations a place to call home. This wanton destruction of our environment by Industries who have no care about our children and our ecosystem will not be accepted in Machakos County. All industries have 30 days to comply with expected standards given by my Government, NEMA, and other agencies. This is Machakos County, and we will do things right.” he said
Yesterday, Mutua accompanied with the county officials closed the walker industry, a shoe manufacturing industry in Mavoko. Despite court orders, the company is said to have been polluting the Athi River with poisonous chemicals.
They also arrested the industry top management officials for doing criminal activities.
"Today I have proved that the Wananchi, the innocent children, youth, mothers, and fathers of our country are the "wakubwas". I have shut down the WALKER INDUSTRIES companies and the management has been arrested for criminal activities," he posted
