Former Jubilee party Vice Chair David Murathe has given his view on what President Uhuru Kenyatta will discuss today during the State of the Nation address.
Uhuru will address the National Assembly in a speech expected to be beamed live by major Television channels in the country.
Murathe was quoted by the Standard saying that the president’s speech will dwell mostly on his war against graft as well as the head of state’s truce with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
“For sure the issue of the fight against corruption and leaving behind a united Kenya will dominate the speech. He will have to appraise the country on how he will slay the dragon of corruption,” Murathe said.
The controversial politician said the president’s clear message about the handshake will expose those against it to ridicule.
“The President will reiterate his commitment to the handshake as part of his quest to leave a legacy of a united country. Those opposed to the handshake then will have to tell the country why they want to divide Kenyans," said Murathe.
The handshake has been blamed by politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto as the cause of troubles in the ruling Jubilee party.
