An inquest into the circumstances that led to the death of former Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru has stalled.
The delay occurred after Senior Resident Magistrate Pauline Maisy Chesang', who was taking charge of the case, was arrested following the murder of her husband Mr Robert Chesang’.
Police are probing the death of Chesang’, which has affected the progress of the case on Gakuru's death.
The case of the governor, who died on November 7, 2017, was expected to be heard on Wednesday last week before the hitch in court.
The family of the late governor has urged Chief Justice David Maraga to ensure they get justice following the tragic incident.
The Gakuru’s kinsmen, through their spokesperson Mr Waruru Ndegwa, also said that they are grateful for the support Director of Criminal Investigations has accorded them as they seek answers into the former governor’s demise.
“We urge the Chief Justice (David Maraga) to allocate the file to another court to avoid delays,” said Ndegwa, as quoted by Daily Nation.
