Three police officers; Constable Ali Hassan, Corporal Ibrahim Abdow and Seargent Simon Kyalo were nabbed by investigative officers from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) after they were found transporting foreigners of Somali origin at Mutwang'ombe along Mwingi-Garissa Highway.

The DCI took to Twitter to announce that the foreigners were transported by a government vehicle and they had also recovered Sh18,000 from the police allegedly paid by the foreigners to facilitate their transportation.

"THREE Prison Officers found ferrying Foreigners in a Govt Vehicle from Garissa to Nairobi were today arrested at Mutwang'ombe along Mwingi-Garissa Highway. Kshs 18,000 cash suspected to have been given to facilitate the transportation also recovered from the prison sergeant," DCI wrote on Twitter.

The investigative body pointed out that they were eight foreigners with no identification documents like national Identity Cards or passports and the car was heading to Annual Prison Sports Competition hosted in Nairobi.

"Upon Intercepting & Inspecting the GK lorry which was also ferrying other prison officers attending an annual Prison Sports Competition in Nairobi, six juveniles & two adults all of Somali origin with no single identification documents were found on board," reads part of DCI tweet. 

The prison officers and foreigners are currently undergoing investigations.
