Former Tusker FC midfielder Peter Pinchez Opiyo has signed a one-year-deal with Finland’s SJK Seinäjoki.
The midfield kingpin is eyeing a successful run with SJK, having played in the country’s league before. Opiyo first represented FF Jaro, and came up against his current employers.
“I've been up against SJK earlier in my career and I know it is a great and a club that is run professionally. That was the biggest reason why I wanted to come here, as well as working with a familiar coach. This is a great challenge and a new home for me. I know SJK is a club that always wants to win and it suits my own ambition. I want us to win together in the future,” Opiyo said when he spoke to the media.
His coach Eremenko, was also elated to have captured the Kenyan international and looks forward to a great stint.
“Peter and Shahdon are very well acquainted with me because I worked with them at Jaro. I would have wanted to continue working with them, but Jaro's financial difficulties then saw its best players leave,"
“Peter is a midfielder who thinks really fast. He is a real feeder with high-quality feed and works very hard. He usually runs the most miles in the team and never gives up. He is a good character and remains calm on the pitch and never panics, so he brings us a lot of confidence in the field,” Eremenko opined.
