Kondele Ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Joachim Oketch famously known as Swagga is perhaps the most vocal MCA in Kisumu County.
Known to be ODM Party leader Raila Odinga’s die hard supporter, the 31-year old is among the most youthful leaders in the Kisumu County Assembly.
He becme Kondele MCA after defeating the then MCA Gabriel Ochieng in the hotly contested ODM party nominations last year.
Swagga grew up in Manyatta, Kondele ward. He went to Kondele and Lake Primary Schools and later Usenge Secondary School.
“It was not easy, but I was lucky to have gotten a chance to go to University,” he told this writer.
He went to Egerton University, Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and Maseno University where he studied Procurement and Strategic Management.
During the 2009 census, he was among the clerks who were involved in the exercise.
“I was paid Sh24, 000 and with the help of my brother started a pool table business here in Manyatta. That is how I even funded my University studies,” he recalled.
He later bought screens and put them in various places in Kisumu among them Maseno, where football fans would pay to watch soccer matches.
At one point, he served as an intern and later a sales person at the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Kisumu Branch.
He then joined Coca-Cola Equator bottlers, before leaving to join politics.
Swagga who is perhaps the most active Kisumu MCA on social media, is a happily married family man with three children.
