“ODM is a party that practices democracy and there is one love thus we always work together and if you are observant, you will realize that all our members of parliament always do their best to serve Kenyans diligently,” said Mr. Sifuna.

Mr. Sifuna who was speaking live on Radio Citizen Thursday morning show insisted that section 14 of the political parties act is clear and it states that any legislator who supports the ideology of another party besides the one on whose ticket he/she was elected is violating the law and must be subjected to legal punishment.

“I am a lawyer by profession and I can not contradict myself on anything, in fact that is a Kenyan law, not an ODM law, that is why as ODM, we will not entertain any member of parliament who violates the law: you cannot be elected on an ODM ticket and move around supporting politicians from other parties, even if we support the handshake it does not mean ditching your own party,” he added.

Mr. Sifuna pointed out that the party will maintain its position on the expulsion of Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori and his Malindi counterpart Aisha Jumwa.

He said that the MPs violated the political parties’ law and they have refused to apologize hence ODM no longer needs them.

He added that ODM is undoubtedly still the most popular party in the coastal region and pleaded with the residents of Msambweni and Malindi to remain calm.
