Seven officers who were in charge of the concluded Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations have been arrested over suspected exam irregularity.

The seven, who had been posted at Ivumbuni Primary School examination centre in Machakos County were taken in by the police for questioning. 

This is after it was found out that answer sheets for the Social Studies paper had not been sealed properly. This mistake was detected by Bernard Nthiwa, the Examination Officer Manning Distribution Center. 

Nthiwa reported this matter to the authorities, who called on the police

A source from the police station told the Standard that the officers will be charged if found to have done the mistake on purpose.

"All have been picked for interrogation and those found culpable will be charged in court tomorrow (Friday) with appropriate charges once we complete investigations,” the source told Standard Digital.

Moreso, a police officer who was manning the station was also taken in for questioning. 

The Social Studies paper was done on Thursday from 8:30am to 10:50am. 

The government had warned that anybody found in any exam-related irregularity will face the law accordingly.
