The County Government of Kwale has pledged to pay school fees for all 647 students joining national schools from the County.
Speaking at Lungalunga Primary School Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya assured respective parents that children who will join national schools will start receiving their cheques from next week.
"I promise all parents that the issuing of cheques to students selected during the first selection going to secondary school will receive their cheques from next week then we wait for the others in the second selection," said the governor.

Mvurya instructed Ward Administrators to set aside 10 per cent of the Sh20 million they receive to cater for issuance of licenses of bodaboda riders after complaints that they were being harassed by police officers due to lack of the documents.
The Governor announced that the County will build an X-Ray block at Lungalunga Sub-county hospital and within a week, the hospital will receive theater equipment.
"In a week's time, we will supply equipment to Lungalunga Hospital for the theater so that operations can be done here,'' he said during Jamhuri Day celebrations.
The governor said he had approved Sh81.4 million for Universal Healthcare programme that kicks off in 2019 targeting 10,000 families.
At the same time, a cancer centre will be built at Msambweni Referral Hospital at a cost of Sh60 million while a Teachers Training College will be built in Kinango Sub-county in 2019.

According to the governor, the county government is working closely with the national government to develop the Shimoni seaport and other projects such as the Samburu-Kinang-Kwale road, the Sh34 billion Mwache multipurpose Dam and Ukunda Airstrip among others.
"We have also held meetings with our Zanzibar counterparts on the safety and cooperation of fishermen and we will from now on foster closer relationships," he said.
Governor Mvurya said he supports the Gender Bill that is in Parliament hoping it will pass saying women have leadership capabilities.
Kwale County Commissioner Ngumo Karuku, CECs and other dignitaries attended the function.
