Kameme TV has lost one of its popular presenters through a fatal road accident.
Ihugo Wa Njeri, popularly known as Mutonyi, died while on his way to the TV studios on Monday morning.
According to his co-host, Wangechi wa Kariuki, Mutonyi was riding on a bodaboda when its tyre burst at the Museum Hill roundabout.
He is reported to have died due to serious head injuries as he was not wearing a protective helmet.
"He was very hurt on his head, which bled so much that he died on the spot," Wangechi narrated.
Kameme TV, which is owned by Mediamax Network Limited Company, took to Twitter to announce the demise of one of its respected presenters.
"Kameme TV mourns the death of Ihugo wa Njeri who died in a gruesome road accident this morning. May he rest in peace," read part of the post.
The deceased was an expert in Gikuyu traditions and beliefs as he consistently demonstrated through his popular segment ‘Unduire Witu‘ (Our Culture) and ‘Menya Rithiomi‘ (Know Your Language).
The programmes aired during a breakfast show known as 'Rikiratha' (Sunrise) which he hosted alongside Wangechi.
Mutonyi has been working at the vernacular television station associated with President Uhuru Kenyatta's family since its inception in April, 2017.
